Everyone in San Diego gets pumped about Street Scene every They were so nice and really appreciative…and some even put the shoes right xoxo -PonyGirl
year. Tons of great bands, tons of
the good kind of chaos that only festivals can offer, tons of hipstered-out
peeps, and tons of amazing people watching, as we all learned here at
Pony. Luckily, we were literally
one block away from all the excitement so a grip of people on their way to the
big event were drawn to our graffitied walls saying “Hell yeah, Pony. I
remember those shoes.” In the mix
of all the random visitors, we got a surprise visit from TV on the Radio – the
hip band that won’t admit they are hip, which in turn makes them even
hipper. All of us were geeking out
because we were just listening to them in our “bat cave” right before they came
in – thank god their songs weren’t playing when they walked in – I would have
felt like an ultra nerd.
on. They got an array of our shoes from our ultra-light 5 Oz.’s to some ever popular Feed the Cats. Then we got the treat of
watching them on stage a few hours later, along with the other 15,000 people
that truly made it a Pony sight to be “scene”.

Pony at the Casbah here in San Diego.
Shows there are always fun and our Pony friends always put on an amazing
show, but little did I know I was about to see one of the best live
performances I have ever seen before – and I have seen some awesome shows!!!
Our friends Tape Deck Mountain and The Feelings Mutual were playing so I was
already stoked. Usually I get to
shows just in time to see the bands I want to see…maybe its my ADD or my recent
habit of going to sleep at 10 after watching some cheesy TV, but I usually
don’t have it in me to go early or stay late…this night I was there nice and
early, at least early by hipster standards, 9pm. Good thing because TsuShiMaMiRe went on promptly at 9:30…and
then it was all over – I was in love with this band. Straight from Japan, “Sushi” brought one of the highest
energy shoes I have seen in a long time. 3 little rockin’ girls playing heavy
instruments and high kicking and dancing around like kids while putting to
shame any Rockstars that think they have stage presence- there was no choice in
the matter – everyone there was blown away by their amazing energy and charisma
and had to jump around too…but not nearly with the rock n’ roll grace of these
ladies. Obviously many have been drawn in by this as well. They get new “apostles” wherever they
go and have even recorded songs for the Cartoon Network’s Powerpuff Girls. 3
rockin’ little girls playing music for 3 rockin’ cartoon girls…perfect.
only were they the nicest, most humble people I have ever spoken too, but they
also had this great experienced “on the road” wisdom. Robbie and I invited them down to our shop hoping we could
get them to wear some Ponys. The
next day they came…these girls are so quiet and nice, you would never expect
them to be such rock goddesses on stage.
They came and got some kicks! And we are so stoked to have such great
artists sporting Pony these days – represent!!!
friends that sport Pony!
